Brooklyn Bridge
I recently took the blue train over to Brooklyn to the High Street stop. From there it was an easy walk to the pedestrian access to the bridge. Prior to climbing the stairs up to the bridge, I decided to scout around down below the bridge. A smart move that was! There I was able to see the waterfalls flowing from below the bridge, as well as take in an awesome view of lower Manhattan. This little sidetrack was well worth the extra effort. While there I saw the famous Grimaldi's Pizzeria. No slices available and since I was solo, I could only look and drewl at other people's pies! I actually decided I would suck it up and order a small pie for myself, but by the time I got back a rather large tour group filled up the place and the thought of waiting around for their order to be fulfilled pushed me up the hill and over the bridge. There is also a River Barge restaurant down there that provides a phenomenal vista of NYC. This is a very high end place with lunch entrees in the $30 range. You literally dine on what appears to be a boat looking out at Manahattan. This is another "must" try for me too one day.
Now back to the Brooklyn Bridge, this is something I have wanted to walk across for a long time. It is an extrodinary feat to make time to do such a wonderful walk. Well worth the time and effort. I would advise anyone living in or visiting NYC to take time to smell the roses and make the trek across the Brooklyn Bridge! Visit http://www.nuevayork.com/ for more great NY tips.
